What is XPS foam core material?

XPS foam core material refers to extruded polystyrene foam used as a lightweight structural and insulation core. It is produced through an extrusion process that creates a uniform closed-cell structure with consistent density.

One of the main advantages of XPS foam cores is their excellent thermal insulation performance. The closed-cell structure helps prevent moisture absorption and provides stable thermal resistance over time. This makes XPS particularly suitable for construction and refrigeration applications.

In addition to insulation properties, XPS foam cores offer moderate compressive strength and dimensional stability. While they may not provide the same structural performance as PVC or PMI foam cores, they are widely used where thermal insulation and cost efficiency are important.

XPS foam core materials are commonly used in building insulation panels, sandwich wall panels, refrigerated containers, cold storage facilities, and industrial insulation systems.
