Building envelopes are constantly subjected to dynamic, oscillating loads from wind gusts and thermal cycling. PET’s polymer chain architecture gives it outstanding fatigue resistance, allowing it to endure millions of low-stress cycles without developing micro-cracks or permanent deformation. Coupled with this is its exceptionally low coefficient of thermal expansion and high creep resistance. Unlike thermoplastics that expand and contract significantly, PET foam maintains its original dimensions under extreme temperature gradients, preventing common failures like panel bulging, joint sealant tearing, and fastener loosening.
