Foam Core materials themselves hate UV light. Direct, unshielded sunlight will turn rigid PVC foam brittle and yellow into powder within 1-2 years (a process called chalking). The Core is NEVER the weathering surface. It must always be protected by the skin (fiberglass, paint, aluminum, or a UV-stabilized film). With proper encapsulation, the foam core interior will last 25+ years (as seen in marine hulls).
