PET foam is a thermoplastic polyester foam with extremely high specific strength and fatigue life, especially suitable for repeatedly loaded applications like truck floors and ship structures. Differences from PVC foam: PET has higher flexural modulus (wider linear elastic range), heat resistance up to 150°C, and is 100% recyclable; PVC foam has better toughness (higher elongation at break) but a heat deflection temperature of only about 80°C. From an engineering perspective, PET foam exhibits superior compressive creep performance, with thickness loss below 2% under long-term load (50-year estimate), while PVC foam is prone to property degradation from plasticizer migration in humid and hot environments.
