Why is high shear performance so vital for a building wall panel? What is PET foam’s capability here?

Shear performance is the most critical core property. When a wall panel is subjected to wind suction or pressure, the load is transferred from the face sheet, through the core, to the perimeter fixings. The core’s job is to resist the sliding (shear) force between the inner and outer faces. If the core’s shear strength or modulus is insufficient, the panel will exhibit shear crimping or fail at the supports. Our PET foam boasts a shear modulus of 15-35 MPa, which is markedly higher than that of comparable density PVC or PU foams, ensuring robust load transfer and a stiff, safe structure.
